Operating between Edinburgh and Dundee on a single charge, Ember worked closely with Dundee City Council to utilise an ultra-fast charging point in the city centre, allowing the buses to charge more efficiently.
With initial launch plans hampered by the Covid-19 pandemic, Ember secured a government-backed business interruption loan to fast-track its growth aspirations, allowing it to launch their service with an additional bus.
Technology sits at the heart of its operation and, by building their technology from the ground up, Ember have been able to optimise everything around their fully electric fleet, offering a better price and service with zero emissions.
Passengers can book online, and buses can be tracked in real time via a smartphone app, a feature Ember felt was lacking in the industry.
Long-term, its plan is to expand the electric coach and charging network across the rest of the Scotland and beyond, making the charging network accessible to other operators.
